Tech Tip: Give Bulk E-Mail a Detour with
MS Outlook
Do you collide with spam on a daily basis? Then, redirect your
inbox traffic by creating a Junk Mail folder with Microsoft Outlook.
Here's how to give unwanted messages an alternate route, so you
never have to meet them on the road again!
1. Open your Inbox and choose Tools/Organize.
A "Ways to Organize..." menu will expand down from the
top of the screen.
2. Click on Junk E-mail in the list of choices on the left.
3. Use the drop-down menus to force Junk and Adult Content
messages to "Automatically move to Junk E-Mail."
4. After you've created these two filtering rules, choose
"Turn On" to activate them. Outlook will automatically
scan your messages for phrases such as "money back" and
"over 18" and move potential spam mail to a Junk E-mail
folder.
Hint: You can add to the list of phrases that Outlook uses to screen
your mail, or you can reroute messages sent by a particular sender.
For more information, use the Microsoft Outlook Help files located
in the Help menu.
