Tech Tips
Speed Up Your Connection:
Update Your Modem Driver
Whether you use Windows or Mac, you can optimize your connection speed
by keeping your modem up-to-date. Modem manufacturers periodically release
upgrades that you can download for free.
First, you may want to check to see which modem driver version you're
using now (see below for details). Next, visit www.modemhelp.org
and click on "Modem Drivers" for a list of the latest drivers
sorted by modem manufacturer (Macs are at the bottom of the list). Simply
find your modem's manufacturer on the list, and click the link to download
and install the newest driver available.
To find out which version you're using currently, follow these steps:
Windows 95/98/ME: Open the Control Panel by choosing Settings/Control
Panel from the Start menu. Then, go to "System" and open the
"System Properties" dialogue box. Choose the "Device Manager"
tab, and double-click "Modem" from the list. Click on the "Drivers"
tab, and check the date or version number of your driver or view "Details"
for more information.
Windows 2000/NT: Open the Control Panel by choosing Settings/Control
Panel from the Start menu. Double-click the "System" icon, and
select the "Hardware" tab. Click on the "Device Manager"
button, and then choose "Modem" and "Driver" to get
the details about your modem driver.
Macintosh: From the Apple menu, choose control panels/modems.
This screen will show you what type of modem is installed on your computer.
With this screen open, choose "File" from the menu at the top,
and select "Get Info" to find out your driver's version number.

Atlantic.Net Offers
Relief to Former BlueStar Customers
Atlantic.Net is offering a special incentive to former customers of BlueStar,
a high-speed Internet provider that recently folded. Businesses that sign
a one-year contract for Atlantic.Nets Digital
Subscriber Line (DSL) Internet access qualify for free equipment and
free activation. In addition, clients that sign a two-year agreement for
a high-speed T-1 connection will get free installation.
Atlantic.Net also is offering alternative connections to businesses until
their new DSL or T-1 connections
are established. "Atlantic.Net is in the fortunate position to be
able to offer excellent service to customers who are in the unfortunate
position of having to find a new Internet provider," says Marty Puranik,
president and CEO of Atlantic.Net. "Our optimistic but cautious approach
has allowed us not only to sustain but to grow our business, and we are
proud of that."
To sign up for a DSL or a T-1
connection, call 1-800-521-5881. To learn more about Atlantic.Nets

The Atlantic.Net
Advantage
Ever wonder how Atlantic.Net backs up its claim to be one of the "most
reliable" ISPs? Unlike other providers, Atlantic.Net's network is
made up of multiple, high-speed connections to the Internet backbone.
If a carrier goes down, the network automatically switches over to another
connection. This innovative design enables Atlantic.Net to offer a 99.9%
uptime guarantee.
Most competing service providers have only one direct connection to the
Internet, thus weakening their network's stability and increasing the
chances that their customers' data communications will come to a screeching
halt. With Atlantic.Net, your data keeps moving on time, all the time--no
matter what! Atlantic.Net is recognized as a Cisco Powered Network--a
designation reserved for the top one percent of Internet service providers
around the world. In addition, Atlantic.Net's network is monitored around
the clock by a team of engineers with nearly 35 years of combined experience.
Our technicians' credentials include Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer,
Cisco Certified Networking Associate and Certified Novell Engineer.

related business services, please call 1-800-521-5881 or e-mail sales@atlantic.net.
